A Guy And His Hero

VR Puzzle/God Game - M1 2017 (4 months)

A Guy and his Hero is a student project led by a team of 6 students in first year of JMIN master at CNAM-ENJMIN, Angoulême, France. We received some help from Hélène, 3D Artist & Animator student at EMCA, Angoulême, France.

We received the Great Prize during Hits Playtime 2017 contest (June 24 2017), facing 14 other student projects from various French video game schools. And more recently we won the Audience Choice Award at Indiecade Europe 2017 contest in Paris (October 31 2017). The project takes part to other national & international contests.

Our team is built around a strong pitch proposal from Alexandre, our Graphic Designer. He wanted to make a game inspired by board games and child toys in Virtual Reality using the HTC Vive technology.

Everyone has once dreamed to follow a hero in his quest, to overview him, to be both storyteller and divine figure over a little world.

This dreamt world is what A Guy and his Hero is about. And that’s why the rest of the team joined the project, to get the opportunity to feel this adventure again.

My role

Gameplay Programmer (Unity3D C#)

My role as a gameplay programmer was mainly to develop the little hero's AI (pathfinding, animation, collision...) and its interactions with the different puzzles (using NodeCanvas plugin). I also helped to integrate different assets.
